Ten Haaf Projects is pleased to announce: ‘’Love After Love", a solo exhibition by
Silvia Argiolas.

The artist works primarily in painting. These are done on canvas and paper. She
constructs works with underlying layers of pencil, crayons, and collage. Some works
have thick layers of paint, others resemble more a quick sketch. The use of color is
bold and tactile. Her signature style is childlike but at the same time very disciplined.

Silvia Argiolas examines feelings like love, obsession, loneliness, and emotional
dependency. Her work has a duality and gives contradicting messages. It shifts from
innocence to corrupt, tender to violent, and bright to dark. Although her work is raw
and emotionally intense, it always has elements of humor and irony.

The artist draws narrative spaces that are inhabited by female figures. Through her
work she explores emotions and the psychology of human experiences. Argiolas
focuses mainly on desire and vulnerability, and the effect that these have on intimacy
and identity.

Her work deals with autobiographical elements as well as pop culture, religion, and
sexuality. The artist is deeply influenced by Italian cinema directors like Luchino
Visconti and Pier Paolo Pasolini.
