Ten Haaf Projects is pleased to announce: "Nova" The first solo show in The Netherlands of English artist Ben Cottrell (b.1972).
The title of the show loosely refers to a star that undergoes a violent eruption resulting in an increased intensity of burning light.
Cottrell’s work can be seen in relation to an ambivalent eruption of energy. His work explodes itself into a variety of approaches, motifs and mediums: oil paintings, ink drawings, woodcuts and sculptures.

The dynamic relations between nature and culture, attraction and horror, inner and outer reality, fiction and authenticity, conscious and unconscious are explored in his work. Mythological figures, abstract convulsive bodies, portraits and romanticised landscape jostle together in a Dionysian spirit.
Cottrell’s work is a journey into a world where nothing is predictable: body and landscape melt into each other, faces fragment into sky, animal and human merge.
The exhibition ‘’Nova’’ will contain paintings, works on paper and sculptures.
