Niko Reidinger was born and raised in Germany (b.1986). From a young age he has been interested in the forests of the Bavarian Alps that surrounded his house. Even so, it is only lately that he really got into working with wood as a material. His sculptures and a bench are a product of this newfound passion. Riedinger is an expressive artist whose work is raw and energetic. Sometimes his work almost looks abstract, full of scrabbles, but looking closer one sees signs and symbols. The Nike logo appears or the Templar’s cross. These cultural symbols and logos are for Reidinger a way of examining society, culture and identity. On display will be his latest canvases, sculptures and a bench made of linden wood.
Dutch artist Gerbrand Volger (b.1940) is an artist who works with oil on canvas. His large size canvases are often a mixture of reality and a fantasy world. Volger is a virtuoso who likes to paint sunlight, and give hope through his work. Though his subjects sometimes touch dark subjects, he tries to make the world a better place through his paintings. A vivid traveler and lover of architecture, he made a body of work on the fire of Notre Dame. On view will be his latest canvas depicting this tragic event.
Koos de Vries (b.1993) lives and works in Nijmegen. His work is narrative and depicts people in landscapes. In his paintings he examines the tragedy of mankind, but he always tries to include an element of humor. His older canvases dealt with figures from Greek mythology, and he did a series of self-portraits as a starving artist. The works on display in the gallery are all based on religious figures . There will be works depicting Jesus Christ and Saint Sebastian. These large canvases are done with acrylic paint applied with airbrush.
Niko Riedinger and Koos de Vries have had national and international shows in galleries and art foundations. They both studied at the Sint Joost Academy in Den Bosch. Gerbrand Volger studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and his work is in important collections like the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
