by Erik van der Weijde

Exhibition dates:
March 6th – April 10th 2010
Opening Party with the artist:
Saturday March 6th, 5-8 pm

Ten Haaf Projects is pleased to announce the exhibition “This is not my Son”, a solo show by Dutch artist Erik van der Weijde. The exhibition shows photographs, which Van der Weijde took of his son over the past few years. Starting point for these series was the relationship between a father/photographer and a son/subject. The many masks and other ways of hiding from the camera, provoke a funny, sometimes an eerie feeling upon the viewer.

In 2009 Van der Weijde published the book “This is not my Son” (Rollo-Press, 2009) in which he takes the viewer on a journey through what seems to be family pictures. Most of Van der Weijde’s photographic series are first shown as books and only afterwards translated to an exhibition. Many of his books are published by himself, but also in collaboration with renowned publishers such as ROMA Publications (NL), Kaugummi books (F) and Rollo-Press (CH).
